Ian Sabourin

Ian Sabourin is a Canadian countertenor raised in Ottawa and based in Montreal. He was awarded the Fellowship Stingray Award and recently joined the Opéra de Montréal's (ODM) Atelier Lyrique as the first countertenor in the history of the program.

Upcoming performances include recording Bach cantatas with Ensemble Caprice and ATMA Classique, and a principal role in the world premiere of new opera Le Phare by Laurence Jobidon with Opéra de Montréal.

Sabourin’s 2023/2024 season included a debut role with ODM as Ottone in Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea, Berstein’s Chichester Psalms with Ottawa Choral Society,  Bach's St. Matthew Passion with The Peterborough Singers, Handel arias with Arion Baroque, and Mozart’s Requiem with OCM.
